7:30AM, finish nursing the baby. I peeked in on TJ and he was just waking. I was hoping to be in the car by 8AM, but it wasn’t until about 8:15. Wrangling Little Guy into his pants takes precious time. Late start, McD’s $1 burritos, and off to the farm. I explained signing in on the way, and TJ got himself checked in.
After nursing Dill Pickle again, the three of us went to the playground in the adjacent park. Little Guy invited me to play with him, so it was up the structure (banging my head), and down the slide. MissD was asleep in the ring sling and didn’t notice that she was going down slides, tube or twisty. I must have hit my head 4 or 5 times in as many different places on the structure!
The park has a barn for the 4H club and a feeding pen, as well, for the park goers. Little Guy was instructed to keep his fingers back from the goats and larger fowl (we didn’t purchase feed today), and he watched them in fascination – and gave a good belly laugh while watching the chicks follow their mother hen.
We wandered the park and he played on the playground some more. Then I realized that TJ hadn’t taken a water bottle. We walked to the farm and took him the bottle, he was enjoying working in the field with a group, learning about the different plants.
After feeding the Dill again, we drove down the street to find some lunch, but Little Guy nodded off. I turned around and drove back to the park and TJ was walking through the parking lot. It was hot in the sun and he’d put in a good 3 hours his first day volunteering and was ready to go.
The afternoon has been quiet and peaceful. Both boys played quietly and MissD took a long nap.
Ben and the older girls were due back in the evening, and their flights had been changed so they’d arrive at night, and changed back to only an hour’s delay. They’re now home, and the voices echo a bit, girly squealing permeates the walls. I’m about worn out, and they’ve only been home an hour… Life is returning to normal.
