I found a neat book at the library and ordered the ‘proper’ yarn from Denise. (I’m still new to substituting fiber, so I’m trying to occasionally get the yarn called for to compare)
(I borrowed this from the library! Much better price!)
and tried my hand at a mitten for TJ. His favorite colors are black, red and yellow, so I used the latter two for this:

It fits my hand perfectly.. So, I ought to go down a needle size…
As soon as I cast off MissA’s socks, I cast on for MissB. She’s still at that stage in which she’ll put on her socks any which way, so I thought I’d give tube socks a go.

Rainbow Socks by Susanne Kitzmann

I finally finished the Rainbow Socks for MissA. This is a Lorna’s Laces single skein (usually my LYS carries them in pairs) that she picked out. Color: Baby Stripes.
I really enjoyed this pattern, I learned how to pick up the wraps. And, there was plenty of practice doing so!

Ya think I’da learned by now, huh?
The girls got out the paperdolls and found the scissors. I don’t think I need to write more than that. They played happily cutting out dozens of little dresses, skirts, goats, shoes.. Last night, Ben found a little clump of hair somewhere. There was more in our bed when I went in last night, so apparently Dad and Mom’s bed is the place to chop hair. Ben figures that she does it whenever her hair touches her eyes.

It’s done! Most of the ends were woven in as I knit, so after I wash it I’ll finish those last few. T.J. is pleased and I hope to get a picture of him in it soon.

MissC really likes her new sweater. At least, she likes being put up on the toy box to get her picture taken!

Basic Pattern: Cameron’s Hooded Cardigan from A Good Yarn. The tree on the front is the Apple Tree chart (p. 102) from Charted Knitting Designs (3rd Treasury)
by Barbara Walker.
The knitting for this sweater has been done for a couple months. I’ve never put a zipper in a knit before! It turned out a tiny bit wonky, but not bad for a first.
I finished the back-zippered baby sweater yesterday. All the knitting has been completed for several months, the zipper was the part that took so long! It sat next to the sweater for a looong time while I ignored it completely until I was ‘ready’ to sew it in. Thank Sara for that aha moment a couple weeks ago! I basted it in in an hour -seriously, it took 15-20 minutes once I actually started with the thread, but I pinned it 3 times. I sewed in the first side over the next couple days and set it down again. Yesterday, I couldn’t find MissC’s jacket, so I grabbed the sweater and thread as I headed out the door. I finished sewing the zipper in during Bible study.
I took a phone pic, but am currently slightly inept at getting pics from the phone to the computer. I’ll take time to figure that out later.
Last night, Ben was out. The night before I came across a grocery bag pattern that I decided to try. Basically, use a plastic bag as the pattern for the fabric version. The tutorial shows how to make a pocket to fold the bag into for storage. I used some floral fabric that I might otherwise not use, and used the lining fabric as the pocket. The bag seriously looked not quite right without the pocket, probably because I’m used to seeing the store info on the plastic bags!
Gotta run. TJ has his Yorktown Reenactment today.

I found this cabled knit coffee cup sleeve pattern while wandering the net. Now I’m making one for Ben: have 2 repeats done already.
Notes thus far:
Pattern: Knit Coffee Sleeve, source: craftster.org, by MissKnittyPants
Yarn: Mexican Wave (100% Acrylic DK weight, so I may need some extra rows) from Aunt Gerry
Needles: 2 #5 Crystal Palace bamboo DPNs (just because they were the closest to size and hand)
